Hello! I’m Hita Papa, and I love Onsen and Beppu.
This time, I came to “Myoban Yunosato” in Myoban Onsen, Beppu City, Oita Prefecture.

Myoban Yunosato is a popular tourist spot in the Myoban hot springs in the mountains of Beppu. Its spacious grounds are packed with fun spots, including a large open-air rock bath, family baths, a hot spring hut, and souvenir shops !
There are also many large tourist buses and tour groups.
There are countless Yunohana huts on the premises, where they produce natural Yunohana from the steam of the hot springs that bubble up from the ground. It’s a very old establishment that was founded 300 years ago (゚Д゚)
In the large open-air rock bath, you can enjoy the spectacular view while bathing in the pure white hot spring water that emits a strong sulfur scent 😆♨️

Now let us introduce you to Myoban Yunosato, a popular tourist spot in Beppu’s Myoban Onsen!

The exterior of “Myoban Yunosato”

If you go further up the mountain from Beppu city, past Kannawa Onsen, you will arrive at the Myoban Onsen area, where the strong smell of sulfur wafts through the air.
The area is surrounded by mountains and is rich in nature.

The parking lot is quite large and has plenty of spaces.
It is a popular tourist spot for tour groups, including those who visit by sightseeing bus.
It’s located in Myoban Onsen, a mountain hot spring, and is a place rich in nature.

Stroll through the grounds of “Myoban Yunosato”
The large grounds are filled with hot springs, hot spring flower huts, souvenir shops, and more, making it a fun place to just look around.

A hell steaming kiln where food is cooked using hot spring steam.
The hot spring steam is overflowing and the smell of sulfur is strong.

There is a shop, and you can take a relaxing break at the tables and chairs set up in the park.

There is a hand bath with rich acidic sulfur spring water that is the pride of Myoban Yunosato.
The spring is rich in the scent of sulfur.

This time, I visited in early April, so the cherry blossoms were in bloom in the garden.

Within the park there is a place called “Botchan Jigoku” where natural hot springs and steam gush out.
The smell of sulfur is in abundance here too!
Hot springs bubble up from the ground, and the deposits of hot spring deposits form a white clay-like substance.
Hot springs are bubbling away ♨️

There was also a place where hot springs gushed forth here!
The hot springs at “Myoban Yunosato” are not excavated but are natural springs, so the hot springs probably bubble up all over the park.
Yunohana hut

There are numerous hot spring flower huts within the park, and you can enter and tour them for free.
They make Yunohana from the steam from the hot springs that bubble up from the ground, and were founded an amazing 300 years ago!

↑We haven’t entered the Yunohana Hut yet, but there is already a lot of hot spring mineral deposits around the hut.
There’s hot spring steam bubbling up from the ground all over the place.
You can visit the Yunohana hut for free.

This is what the inside of the Yunohana hut looks like.
There is a lot of pure white, slightly yellowish hot spring deposits.
Yunohana is a crystallization of hot spring ingredients, and has been used for medicinal purposes and as a bath additive since ancient times.
The gift shop also sells natural bath salts made from Yunohana.
It’s covered in “Yunohana”, natural crystals of hot spring ingredients!
Souvenir shop

The shop is filled with Beppu souvenirs and original Myoban Yunosato products.

↑Natural hot spring mineral deposits made in the hot spring mineral deposits hut at Myoban Yunosato.
I have purchased this before, and when I add it to the bath as a bath additive, the water turns pure white.
This is the best bath additive made only from natural ingredients.

There were also cosmetics made from hot spring minerals!

My wife bought a beauty mask made with hot spring mineral deposits (around 450 yen) as a souvenir for herself.
It seems to make your skin smooth♪
There are many products that use natural “Yunohana”
Large open-air rock bath

There is a large open-air rock bath at the highest point of Myoban Yunosato.
Purchase a 600 yen admission ticket from the ticket machine.

The view from the natural hilltop is amazing!
It’s an open-air bath with a spectacular view!!

At the entrance to the hot spring, there is a hell steam bath, and you can buy hot spring eggs to eat after your bath.

(※Since photography is not permitted in the hot springs, we have used photos from the official website of “Kyushu 88 Hot Springs Tour.”)
This open-air bath offers a spectacular view overlooking Beppu Bay and the cityscape of Beppu !
The hot springs are of the highest quality, 100% natural spring water !
The hot spring is pure white and cloudy, and depending on how you look at it it can also look greenish.
It is an incredibly acidic sulfur spring with a pH of 2.2 (the same acidity as a lemon), and when you taste it, it tastes just as sour as a lemon !
It tastes like a very sour, unsweet Pocari Sweat.
When you put it in your mouth, your teeth will grind. It feels like your teeth will melt, so it might be best not to put it in your mouth too much (゚Д゚)
The rich water has a strong sulfur smell and is a must-see for hot spring lovers😆
By the way, the clothes you wear that day and the towel you use to dry yourself off will still smell like sulfur for a few days.

Family bath (private bath)

In addition to the large open-air rock bath, there are four family baths that resemble Yunohana huts.
There are family baths available for 2,000 yen and 2,500 yen per hour.

↑This photo was taken when I used the family bath previously.
The hot spring water, with a source temperature of 64 degrees, was poured into a fairly small bathtub, so it was extremely hot (゚Д゚)
It’s difficult to bathe in it without adding a lot of water, so although the hot spring water will become diluted, we recommend adding plenty of water.
There is also a family bath like the Yunohana hut♨️
Hot spring eggs after a bath

After your bath, enjoy some hot spring eggs steamed in the hot spring water!
They are priced at a very reasonable 50 yen each.

Besides eggs, they also have freshly steamed corn and chimaki.

Freshly steamed, piping hot soft-boiled eggs.
It was so hot that I had to leave it for at least 5 minutes before I could peel it off ( ゚Д゚)

This is what it looks like when you peel it.
It has turned brown because it has been steamed in the hot spring for a long time.

The white part is brown all the way through.
Perhaps because they are steamed in the steam from the thick sulfur hot spring, they have a rich flavor similar to that of oden eggs, and are delicious even without salt.
These soft-boiled eggs are really delicious and I highly recommend them.
What’s more, they’re cheap at just 50 yen each!
These are delicious hot spring eggs!
