[Drawbridge Blue Wing Moji] Sightseeing,Travel (Mojiko,Kitakyushu,Fukuoka,Japan)

Hello! I’m Hitapapa and I love Mojiko retro!

This time, we will introduce “Hanebashi Blue Wing Moji” located in Mojiko Retro in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture!

“Blue Wing Moji” is a bridge located in the center of Mojiko retro tourism and is a popular tourist spot.

The sea is in the center of Mojiko Retro, so you can’t get to the other side without going around the sea, which is why there’s a bridge.

However, since there is a bridge, ships cannot pass through, the bridge actually opens!

That’s why it’s called a “drawbridge.”

The “Drawbridge” is for pedestrians only and can be crossed on foot, and the view of the Kanmon Straits from the “Drawbridge” is spectacular!

You can also see the Kanmon Bridge and Shimonoseki on Honshu across the river.

On a sunny day, the blue sky and sea are truly beautiful!

The drawbridge is open for 20 minutes approximately once an hour between 10am and 4pm.

After crossing the drawbridge, be sure to take a commemorative photo with the open bridge!

The boats passing through the open bridge also make for some great photos.

Furthermore, “Drawbridge Blue Wing Moji” has also been certified as a “Lovers’ Sanctuary.”

It is said that if a couple in love crosses the bridge together, their love will be eternal.

So without further ado, let us introduce you to “Drawbridge Blue Wing Moji” in more detail than anywhere else!

HitaPapa

The closed “drawbridge”

In the center of Mojiko Retro there is a “boat berth” (basically a port) and the sea, with a pedestrian path surrounding the sea.

Without a bridge, you would have to go all the way around the boat dock, so a drawbridge is installed.

There is a bridge connecting the Mojiko side of the Premier Hotel and the Mojiko Retro Observation Room side.

However, since there is a bridge, ships cannot pass through, it is designed as a drawbridge that can be opened.

When the bridge is closed, people can walk across it like this.

The bridge is quite close to the sea, and it feels like the bridge is just above the water level.

HitaPapa

The closed bridge is quite close to the sea!

The drawbridge really stands out against the retro landscape.

I’ll post it on Instagram later.

Crossing the “Drawbridge”!

Now let’s cross the drawbridge!

The entrance to the bridge from the Premier Hotel Mojiko side looks like this.

The bridge was built in 1993.

The part of the bridge where people walk is made of wood, so it feels like you’re walking on a pier.

The sea is already right below the bridge.

Next time, let’s cross from the Mojiko Retro Observation Deck side!

When you stand at the entrance to the bridge, it looks quite long!

HitaPapa

It looks quite long when you look at it like this

We arrived near the middle of the bridge.

There was a joint near the middle of the bridge that allowed it to open.

HitaPapa

There’s a joint for the bridge to open up.

From the bridge you can see this magnificent view of the Kanmon Straits!

The sea is right at your feet, so it’s really close!

The Kanmon Bridge looks beautiful.

On the opposite bank is Shimonoseki on Honshu.

On a sunny day, the sky and the sea are truly beautiful and it feels great.

HitaPapa

The view of the Kanmon Straits from the bridge is spectacular!

Drawbridge opening time

The drawbridge is open for 20 minutes approximately once an hour from 10:00 to 16:00.

This round building is where the caretaker of the “Drawbridge” lives.

These buildings are located on both sides of the drawbridge and house the caretakers.

Here is what the administrator does:

When it’s time for the bridge to open, the gates are closed to prevent people from crossing!

I can’t help but think, “What if the bridge opens up while I’m walking across it?” (laughs)

rest assured!

The caretaker closes the bridge at the appointed time, and opens it only after everyone has finished crossing.

By the way, when it’s time for the bridge to open, a piece of music that evokes the feeling of retro travel plays: “Tarararara~~♬”.

HitaPapa

There is a caretaker on duty, so don’t worry, it won’t open while you’re walking across the bridge.

The open “drawbridge”!

The drawbridge opens gradually over the course of about five minutes.

A drawbridge is not split in two down the middle, but has a short side and a long side.

First, go up from the shorter bridge.

When the short bridge goes up a little, the long bridge also goes up.

It opens up little by little♪

The drawbridge is now fully open!!

It goes up pretty high!

HitaPapa

If you look closely, you can see it’s pretty high up

The open “Hanebashi Bridge” and the Mojiko Retro Observation Deck are visible side by side, which is a nice touch.

This angle shows the view of the drawbridge from the observation room of the former Moji Customs House.

The open drawbridge is beautiful from any angle.

A ship passes through the open drawbridge

The reason why a drawbridge opens is to allow ships to pass through!

If there was a bridge just above the water level, obviously ships couldn’t pass through.

The ship has arrived!

It’s a sightseeing cruise ship that travels around the Kanmon Straits.

A ship passes through the open bridge!

For those on the boat, the drawbridge opens just for the boat to pass, and tourists take photos of the boat as it passes over it, so it feels like we’re at DisneySea (is that a bit of an exaggeration?!) lol

The ship heads out into the Kanmon Strait!

Have fun!

HitaPapa

The scene where a boat passes between the bridges makes for some really cool photos.

Let’s take a closer look at the open “drawbridge”!

While you’re here, why not take a closer look at the open “drawbridge”?

This is what it looks like when you look up at the open “drawbridge” from the entrance to the bridge.

It now appears to be towering at 90 degrees.

If something is dropped on the bridge, it will roll off.

You can even go underneath the bridge and see what’s underneath!

HitaPapa

Seen from directly below, it looks so tall!! It stands tall!!

The base of the bridge looks like this.

This moves and the bridge opens.

You can also see the underside of the bridge on the opposite bank.

If you love “Drawbridge Blue Wing Moji”, be sure to take a closer look at the open bridge!

HitaPapa

If you want to observe the drawbridge in a more maniacal way, head to the base of the bridge!

Mojiko Retro’s “Drawbridge” is a “sacred place for lovers”

Apparently, “Drawbridge Blue Wing Moji” has been certified as a “sacred place for lovers”!!

(Who is certifying it?)

Apparently, if two people who love each other cross the drawbridge together, they will be united in eternal love…♪

Near the entrance to the bridge on the Mojiko Port side of the Premier Hotel, there is a monument-like structure marking the “Lovers’ Sanctuary.”

Couples should take commemorative photos here.

This is the Mojiko Retro Observation Room side.

There is a photo spot next to the former Moji Customs House.

Let’s take a photo together with “mojik♡” ♪

By the way, if you look at the back of “mojik♡” it looks like “🚢mojikou🍌,” giving it a kindergarten feel.

There are several long wooden benches.

I’m sure couples will sit here and gaze out at the sea and the bridge, confirming their eternal love for each other.

HitaPapa

Even if you’re not a couple, you can take commemorative photos here and sit on the benches looking out at the ocean!
