Hello! I’m Hitapapa and I love Mojiko retro.
This time, I went to “KOU.”, a cafe that serves delicious Danish waffles and opened in Mojiko Retro in June 2024.
This shop serves delicious waffles made with crispy, slightly sweet Danish dough , and is a perfect cafe for taking a break during your sightseeing tour of Mojiko Retro Area .
Take-out is also available, so you can enjoy your waffles on a bench by the sea, or snack on them as you stroll around Mojiko Retro.

If you’re strolling around on a sunny day looking at the blue sky, blue sea and beautiful cityscape, and you come across a delicious looking waffle shop, you’ll definitely want to go in!
The shop is located in a great location with a beautiful view of the sea and retro streetscape.

It’s a weekday so there aren’t many people, but it gets pretty lively on weekends.
Now let us introduce you to “KOU.” in Mojiko Retro, where you can enjoy delicious crispy Danish waffles!
Exterior
It is located on the first floor at the very end of Kaikyo Plaza, which is lined with souvenir shops and restaurants.
The entrance from the sea side looks like this.
The sign for “Takase,” a kawara soba restaurant on the second floor, is quite prominent, but “KOU.”, which we will introduce this time, is not so noticeable, although the restaurant is on the first floor.

You will hardly find any signs with the store name “KOU.”, so it’s best to look for signs that say “WAFFLE” or pictures of waffles.
It is located on the first floor of Kaikyo Plaza and has two entrances, one on the ocean side and one on the side of the building.
Atmosphere
The entire wall is made of glass, and the sunlight pours in, making the store very bright.
There are cute wooden desks and chairs, and the atmosphere is very relaxing.
The interior of the store is bright and calm, with pleasant sunlight.

When you enter the store, the sweet, fragrant aroma of baking waffles wafts through the air, making you hungry.
When you enter the store, you first order your drinks and waffles at the register and then take a seat wherever you like.
Seeing all the waffles lined up is so exciting!
From inside the restaurant you can see the retro Mojiko sea and townscape.
It’s a really pleasant cafe.

Menu
There are six different kinds of Danish waffles available: plain, sugar, kinako, chocolate, white, and matcha.
Choose your favorite waffle.
There is also a plate with ice cream and waffles.
Have a Danish waffle
Once you place your order at the register, you will be given your drink and waffle right away, and you can take a seat wherever you like.
It’s in the center of Mojiko Retro, so it’s a good place to take a break.
Iced coffee (573 yen)
A refreshing iced coffee with little bitterness or acidity.
Drinking coffee while looking out at the retro sea and cityscape of Mojiko Port is the best.
Matcha Danish Waffle (527 yen)
This is a matcha Danish waffle.
The crispy Danish waffle is covered in matcha-flavored white chocolate and then coated with matcha powder.
When you tear the waffle apart it looks like this.
Unlike regular waffles, the Danish dough is visible.
Because it is made from Danish pastry dough, it is chewy yet crispy, so you can enjoy two different textures.

It is covered in matcha-flavored white chocolate and topped with a generous sprinkling of matcha powder.
The matcha powder has a slightly bitter and gentle sweetness.
The matcha flavor is really good.
The matcha waffles are the best.
The crispy Danish waffles are delicious! They go great with matcha!
Chocolate Danish Waffle (545 yen)
We enjoy Danish waffles at a table in front of the shop.
Blue skies, the sea, a retro townscape and waffles is just too amazing!!!

Chocolate and waffles are a great combination.
It’s sprinkled with lots of walnuts, which adds a really nice accent.
The cross section reveals an irresistible fluffy and crispy Danish pastry texture.
There are tables and benches in front of the shop, so it’s great to eat while looking out at the sea!
White Danish Waffle (527 yen)
A Danish waffle with half of its surface coated in white chocolate.
The white chocolate also looks great against the sea and retro cityscape!
It is topped with dried orange fruit, and the refreshing citrus scent matches well with the white chocolate.
