This time we will introduce you to the “Kaikyo Yume Tower” in Shimonoseki city, Yamaguchi prefecture!

The tower is conveniently located just a 7-minute walk from JR Shimonoseki Station, and if you are coming by car there is a parking lot at the tower, making it extremely accessible.

The most distinctive feature of the “Kaikyo Yume Tower is the breathtaking view of the Kanmon Straits, Kanmon Bridge, Honshu and Kyushu in full view!

On a clear day, the waters of the Kanmon Straits are a beautiful blue!

The dazzling sunlight feels good too.

What’s more, the Straits Dream Tower has become a “sacred place for lovers,” making it the perfect place for couples to enjoy a night view on a date!

From JR Shimonoseki Station to the “Kaikyo Yume Tower

It takes about 7 minutes on foot from JR Shimonoseki Station to Kaikyo Yume Tower.

“Sea Mall” is a commercial facility located in front of JR Shimonoseki Station.

It has a retro exterior, lots of shops inside, and is conveniently located next to the department store “Daimaru.”

The Busanmon Gate stands majestically in front of JR Shimonoseki Station.

Shimonoseki City in Yamaguchi Prefecture and Busan, Korea are sister cities, and in front of JR Shimonoseki Station there is a Korean street called “Green Mall” with this “Busan Gate” as its entrance.

This is a street lined with many yakiniku restaurants.

By the way, there is one ferry service between Shimonoseki City and Busan every day.

The entrance to the tower is on the fourth floor from ground level, so head up either by stairs or escalator.

The escalators were out of service that day and could not be used.

Guests with strollers or with mobility issues can take the elevator in the International Trade Building adjacent to the tower up to the 4th floor at the tower entrance.

If you come by car, you can use the first and second parking lots at Kaikyo Messe, which is located in the same place as Kaikyo Yume Tower.

I paid to look through the binoculars and it was interesting to see the Mojiko Retro area and Kokura cityscape in Kyushu quite clearly!

We are currently at the observation deck on the top floor, the 30th floor, but there are also observation decks on the 29th and 28th floors, so let’s go and check them out!

You can go down to the 29th floor by stairs or elevator.

By the way, it’s not a cafe, it just has tables and chairs. There was a vending machine!

There are toilets available, so you can climb the tower and relax without worry.

The observation deck on the 28th floor is the “Lovers’ Sanctuary Corner”!

In fact, this Kaikyo Yume Tower has become a “sacred place for lovers.”

Return to Ground

Take the elevator down to the ground floor!

Although it’s a shame to leave the magnificent view behind, it’s time to head back down to ground.

The Kaikyo Yume Tower offers a spectacular view of the Kanmon Strait, Kanmon Bridge, and both Honshu and Kyushu !

I learned that the Kanmon Strait is such a beautiful place!

The admission fee is 600 yen for adults and 300 yen for children, which is not too expensive, so I thought it was a bargain for the price if you could see such a great view! By the way, my eldest son (6 years old) was very excited about the view from the tower!

It’s a 7-minute walk from JR Shimonoseki Station and there is a parking lot next door, so it ‘s easy to access. The building is barrier-free, so it’s suitable for strollers and wheelchairs.

Besides the view, another attraction of Kaikyo Yume Tower is that it is a hidden gem with few people around !!

I think that when you go up to a tourist tower, the observation deck is often crowded with people, but here at Kaikyo Yume Tower, it’s empty, which may be a bad way to put it, and it’s a hidden gem!! lol

Even though the view is so spectacular, there are hardly any people there!

There aren’t many people so you can relax and enjoy the blue sea and sunlight.
