Hello! This is Hitapapa.
This time, I went to “Gensho Kawara Soba Takase” in Kawatana Onsen, Yamaguchi Prefecture!
It’s no exaggeration to say that this is the most Instagrammable gourmet food there is, as the visuals are stunning!
Of course, the taste is also super delicious!!
Even if you search all over Japan, you probably won’t find a local delicacy with such a distinctive look and eating style! It’s such a unique delicacy!
Now let’s take a look at Kawatana Onsen’s local delicacy, “Original Kawara Soba Takase”!
It’s the perfect gourmet food for Instagram!
Exterior

A presence that gives off a sense of harmony.
There is a pond next to the entrance with koi swimming in it.

There are three branches of “Ganso Kawara Soba Takase” in Kawatana Onsen: the Main Building, the South Main Building, and the East Main Building. This time, I went to the South Main Building.
All the stores are so close together that they’re practically next door to each other, but the South Main Building is the most spacious and easy to bring children to, so my family always goes to the South Main Building .
The South Main Building has plenty of spacious parking, so it’s easy to park your car.
By the way, the East Main Building is not currently open.
I recommend the South Main Building, as it has a large parking lot and plenty of seating.
Inside the Restaurant

As soon as you enter the store, you can see the face-cutting!
Let’s take a commemorative photo♪

The souvenir section is very well stocked.
There are many souvenirs from Kawatana Onsen and Yamaguchi Prefecture.

This is the view from the auditorium.
The view from the large glass-enclosed auditorium is excellent.
The shop is located on a slight hill, so you can see far into the distance.
Unfortunately it was raining on the day we visited, but on a sunny day the greenery is beautiful and the view is truly spectacular!
From the hill you can see the mountains and look down on the sea.
I’ll enjoy having Kawara Soba!
Original Kawara Soba (1 portion 1,430 yen)

Here it comes!
The most visually stunning Kawara Soba!!
It appears on top of a hot tile!
By the way, this is enough for two people.
Green tea soba noodles, golden egg, beef, green onions, and seaweed are served on a hot tile .
Condiments include lemon and grated maple leaves .
The beef is salty.

Kawara Soba is also beautifully presented!!
You won’t find a combination of these ingredients on soba anywhere else.
The person who first thought of grilling soba noodles on a tile must have been a genius!

There is a pot of soba soup on each table.

Serve with hot soba soup.
Soba sauce tastes similar to tempura sauce.
The flavor of the broth is amazing!!

Put the soba noodles and ingredients into the soba soup like this.
It’s really delicious when you add lemon and grated maple leaves to the soba soup!!

The soba noodles are thick and have a delicious chewy texture .
It’s made with matcha and has a great tea flavor .

While you eat, the soba noodles will be cooked on the hot tiles.
After a while it will brown and become crispy like this.
This burnt taste is also delicious!!
At first, you can enjoy the chewy texture of the soba noodles, and from the middle onwards, the texture becomes crispy, making it twice as delicious!
The person who invented Kawara Soba is truly a genius!!
How do you eat Kawara Soba?
You dip the soba noodles and other ingredients in the soup and eat it. It’s delicious with lemon and grated maple leaves as condiments.
Rice (220 yen)

I always order white rice as well.
I think one serving of Kawara Soba might not be enough for a man.
The soba soup has a rich, tasty flavor, so it goes really well with white rice!!
Ochazuke (396 yen)

This is ochazuke.
It’s the perfect way to finish off a meal after eating Kawara Soba!!
This is a simple ochazuke that is not dashi ochazuke but is simply served with tea, so if you add a little bit of soba soup it will taste like “Hitsumabushi” and is super delicious!!
Children’s plate (715 yen)

We ordered the kids’ plate for each of our sons (ages 6, 3 and 1).
Kawara soba is too hot for children to eat, so I always order the children’s plate.
Oh, by the way, if you accidentally touch the tiles near Kawara-soba you will seriously get burned, so be careful!!
Families with children need to be especially careful .
In our house, the adults always sit at the edge and bring the kawara soba to the very end of the table, away from the children.
Adults too should be careful not to get burned!!
Please be careful with small children so they don’t get burned! We recommend the “kids’ plate” for small children.
Menu
In addition to Kawara Soba, the menu also includes other Japanese dishes such as Hitsumabushi, Tempura, and Kaiseki cuisine.
You can reserve a private room, so you can order kaiseki cuisine and use the restaurant for business dinners.

They also serve kaiseki cuisine and eel dishes! You can reserve a private room, so it’s perfect for a group meal.
