The shrine building of Mekari Shrine

This is the shrine building of Mekari Shrine.
Although the shrine has a history dating back over 1,800 years, the grounds and the shrine building itself are quite compact and small.
Surely God has been watching over the Kanmon Straits from this place of Mekari for over 1,800 years.
Let’s go and pray right away.
By the way, for over 20 years now, when I visit shrines, I always pray, “May my family and I be healthy and strong.”
Health comes first!!

Descending into the Kanmon Straits

At Mekari Shrine, you can actually descend to the Kanmon Straits right in front of the shrine!
This is probably the most interesting thing about Mekari Shrine!
Let’s go through the torii gate and descend into the Kanmon Straits.
It’s the best spot for taking photos!

Once you pass through the torii gate, you’ll come across a steep staircase like this that leads down to the sea.
Going down to the sea!

The last two steps of the stairs are already submerged in the sea!
You can actually go down to the Kanmon Straits!
(It’s dangerous, so don’t go into the water.)
The Kanmon Straits are right at your feet!

When you go down to the bottom of the stairs, you will see this amazing view!!
Mekari Shrine is definitely the only place where you can feel so close to the Kanmon Straits!
The combination of the sea, bridge, and shrine is stunning!
Such a spectacular view!!
