[Beppu cold noodle “Rokusei”] Sightseeing, Travel, Gourmet (Beppu,Oita,Japan)

Hello! It’s Hitapapa!

I’m a working dad with three boys and I love eating out and going to hot springs 😆

This time we came to Rokusei, a Beppu cold noodle specialty restaurant in Beppu city, Oita prefecture!

Beppu cold noodles are a little different from Korean cold noodles.

A refreshing and mild tasting soup made from beef and kelp .

The homemade noodles made from wheat flour and buckwheat flour have a strong texture and a wonderful buckwheat aroma .

The combination of the refreshing Japanese-style soup stock and the springy noodles with a great soba flavor is absolutely delicious 😆

Apparently Rokusei is a very popular restaurant that often has a line at lunchtime.

Now, let’s try Rokuseis Beppu cold noodles!

The refreshing Japanese-style broth and chewy buckwheat noodles are absolutely delicious.

The exterior of Rokusei

Rokusei has two stores in Beppu and one in Oita, but this time I visited the Matsubara main store in Beppu.

It is located a little way down an alley off the main street.

There is a large park in front of the store.

HitaPapa

Rokusei is located a little way down an alley.

There are three private parking spaces in total: one in front of the store and two a short distance away.

There seem to be a lot of customers at lunchtime, and customers line up by writing their names on a piece of paper in front of the store.

Because the store is small, strollers are not allowed inside, so if you have small children it is best to leave the stroller in the car.

Rokusei’s Beppu cold noodles are also shipped nationwide!

The atmosphere of “Rokusei”

There are counter seats and table seats inside the store.

The counter seats are separated from the seats next to them by acrylic panels, so you can eat without worrying about the person next to you.

Before COVID-19, I can remember Ichiran being the only place with partitions at the counter seats, but since experiencing COVID-19, more and more ramen shops and other establishments are starting to have partitions at their counter seats.

The interior of the store has a bright atmosphere with the gentle warmth of wood.

There were also several families with small children.

HitaPapa

The store is clean and has a bright atmosphere.

The one on the left is pepper.

The one on the right…is it sesame?

I’ll enjoy having cold noodle

The Rokusei Beppu cold noodles have arrived!

Rokusei’s homemade kimchi.

This kimchi is made from cabbage, not Chinese cabbage.

It has a strong sour taste and a mild spiciness.

It’s refreshing and very delicious!

This refreshing kimchi goes perfectly with the light soup!

HitaPapa

Homemade cabbage kimchi is so delicious

Large green onions.

Plenty of white sesame seeds.

Boiled egg.

I’m happy when ramen comes with a boiled egg on top right from the start.

Homemade char siu made from beef shank.

The char siu is extremely refreshing and has a nice bite.

It goes well with refreshing soup.

Stock made from domestic beef and kelp.

The kelp used is thick-leaf kelp and Rausu kelp from Kushiro.

The Japanese-style broth is extremely refreshing and has a great flavor !

It contains a fair amount of salt, similar to that of ramen.

There is almost no fat floating in the soup, and it is very light.

It’s a soup that has a very gentle flavor, but also has a certain strength to it .

And because it’s cold noodles, the soup is extremely cold!

This kind of cold soup is good for cold noodles😆

A very clear and gentle tasting Japanese style soup stock

Homemade noodles made from wheat flour and buckwheat flour .

The noodles are quite thick, very chewy, and have a smooth texture .

The noodles are incredibly chewy and firm!

It’s so hard that if you don’t chew it properly you might get an upset stomach.

The buckwheat flavor is strong, and you can really taste the umami of the buckwheat.

You can see that the noodles have small grains of buckwheat mixed in.

The color and appearance give the impression of thick soba noodles.

HitaPapa

The homemade noodles made from buckwheat flour are chewy and delicious.

The light Japanese-style soup stock brings out the flavor of the soba noodles, making for a delicious bowl of ramen.

Plus, the refreshing and sour homemade kimchi adds a nice accent!

It was the perfect cup of coffee😆

It’s a place I definitely want to come back to again 😄

By the way, the person next to me was ordering a large portion, which was quite a generous portion!

The noodles are very dense, so if you order a large portion, you’ll probably be quite full!

HitaPapa

Beppu cold noodles are so delicious they can be described as the “perfect bowl”!

===========================

Thank you for the meal!

Not only is Rokusei’s cold noodles delicious, but the restaurant is clean and bright, and the staff are very kind, helpful, and polite😆

Sometimes, in busy ramen shops, the staff look scary and customers feel a little nervous when eating, but that’s not the case at Rokusei. Even during busy lunch hours, families with small children were welcomed.

I hope this article has been of some help to you.

See you soon!
